The support from the grant will help us further our mission and support resource expansion of the <a href="https://www.hhph.org/work/learning-studio" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Learning Studio</a>.


The celebration also included DJ Hollywood, DJ Ted Smooth and local artist Subway Doodle, who invited community members to help complete a mural that captures the spirit of Harlem, the importance of community health and 50 years of hip hop.

The National Medical Association hosted its 2023 Annual Colloquium on African American Health, “Accelerating the March Toward Health Equity” from March 24–27 in Washington, DC. The Annual Colloquium offers a unique and impactful opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders to address access to essential health care services and improvements in health outcomes for communities of color. On March 25th, Dr. Olajide Williams received the Louis Stokes Health Advocacy Award, presented by Eric Hammond, the grandson of the late Representative Stokes.

The Research!America annual Advocacy Awards ceremony took place in Washington, DC on March 14, 2022. The annual Advocacy Awards are the signature event for Research!America and the research community.
Hip Hop Public Health was awarded the “Meeting the Moment for Public Health Award” which recognizes an individual or organization that has been a “clear voice,” playing a key role in communicating important public health information to the public. This award is supported by Johnson &amp; Johnson.

The Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minoritized Scientists (ABRCMS) was held November 14–18, 2022 in Anaheim, CA. To move the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) forward, it’s crucial that there is more diversity, which means the inclusion of those who have been historically marginalized from working in these fields. ABRCMS programming is a compilation of committee-generated topics, solicited proposals, and attendees feedback.

The annual United Hospital Fund Gala brings together health care, community, and business leaders to support their work building an effective and equitable health care system for every New Yorker and to honor exceptional individuals for their efforts to improve health and health care. On October 3rd, at the 2022 Gala, “An Evening Celebrating Leadership, Vision, and Commitment,” Dr. Olajide Williams was presented with the Distinguished Community Service Award.

The One Young World Summit was held September 5–8, 2022 in Manchester, England. The Summit strives to identify the most impactful young leaders from every country in the world. Many One Young World delegates are top performing professionals, sent to attend the Summit by forward thinking managers who see the need for top talent development.

The Aspen Ideas: Health Festival was held June 22–25, 2022 in Aspen, Colorado. The Aspen Institute hosts programs for discussion of education and policy issues where presidents, scientists, artists, ambassadors, Nobel laureates, and many others gather. The Aspen Ideas Festival has focus areas of scholars/individuals from all over the world nominated to attend for their unique accomplishments and dedication to improving their communities and making advances in their field of work.
